The Flower and Bird Collection Photography and Ancient Poetry Calligraphy Exhibition, jointly organized by the Houston Public Library and the Houston Shenzhen Sister City Association, held its opening ceremony at the Houston Public Library on January 23rd, with the attendance of Chinese and American officials, to celebrate the friendly exchanges between the two cities.
由休斯敦图书馆和休斯敦深圳姐妹城协会共同举办的花鸟集摄影暨古诗词书法展,1月23日在休斯敦图书馆举行开幕式,中美官员出席,共同庆祝两城友好往来。
At the opening ceremony, Houston Shenzhen Sister City Association President Duan Wen Xiaoyan said that since the two cities were twinned in 1986, the Association for the two cities in the economy, culture, education and other exchanges to make a positive contribution to Shenzhen medical institutions, police stations and other units to Houston to learn, the Association annually to participate in the China High-tech Industries Expo held in Shenzhen and the China International Cultural Industries Fair. This art exhibition integrates the art of photography, poetry and calligraphy to provide a cultural feast on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
开幕式上,休斯敦深圳姊妹城协会会长段文小燕表示,自从两市于1986年结为姊妹城以来,协会为两个城市在经济、文化、教育等方面的交流做出积极贡献,深圳医疗机构、警察局等单位到休斯敦学习,协会每年参加在深圳举办的中国高新技术产业博览会以及中国国际文化产业博览交易会。这次的艺术展集摄影、诗词和书法艺术于一体,在中国春节之际为大家奉上文化大餐。
Zheng Wen, Cultural Counselor of China in Houston, said that the exhibition is a good example of combining modern and classical art and hoped to see more similar exchanges in the future. Chris Olson, Director of International Trade for the City of Houston, said in his speech that the exhibition is also an expression of Houston's diversity by bringing China to Houston through the Sister City relationship. At the opening ceremony, Cultural Counselor Zheng Wen and Association President Duan Wen Xiaoyan presented calligraphy and books to the Houston Library on behalf of Shenzhen, and Assistant Deputy Director of the Houston Library Laurie Covington said she was honored to include the gift of books as part of the Houston Library's collection to share with the community.
中国驻休斯敦文化参赞郑文表示,该展是现代与古典艺术相结合的典范,希望将来看到更多类似的交流。休斯敦市政府国际贸易主任Chris Olson致辞说,该展览通过姊妹城关系将中国带到休斯敦,也是休斯敦多元化的一种表现。开幕式上,文化参赞郑文和协会会长段文小燕代表深圳向休斯敦图书馆赠送了书法作品和图书,休斯敦图书馆助理副主任Laurie Covington表示非常荣幸将赠书纳入休斯敦图书馆藏书的一部分与社区人民分享。
The exhibition features 35 wonderful photographs by Shenzhen photographer Liang Fojin, poetry selected by Chen Wei, written by Jin Encheng, translated by Patrick Duan, and proofread by Allan Tiller, allowing Americans to learn and understand Chinese culture through English. Many of the selected poems are popular famous lines, such as “Yo Yo deer singing, eating wild apples; I have guests, drumming and blowing sheng”, “Reed reed, white dew for frost; the so-called Yiren, in the water side”, “The road is long and its cultivation is far. I will go up and down and seek” and so on. The exhibition was supported by Lai Xianan, Director and Vice President of South Bay Real Estate Investment Group.
展览展出深圳摄影家梁佛金35幅精彩摄影作品,由陈伟配选古诗词,金恩成书写,Patrick Duan翻译,Allan Tiller校对而成,让美国人也能通过英文学习和了解中国文化。所选诗句许多为脍炙人口的名句,如 “呦呦鹿鸣,食野之苹;我有嘉宾,鼓瑟吹笙”,“蒹葭苍苍,白露为霜;所谓伊人,在水一方”,“路漫漫其修远兮,吾将上下而求索” 等。 这次展览得到南湾地产投资集团董事暨副总裁赖贤安的大力支持。
